The 2018-2019 school year is underway, and with fall comes football and, most importantly,  Homecoming. This years’ theme will be Dia de Los Homecoming. Falcon seniors are anticipating their last Homecoming of their high school tenure, while freshmen seem excited to experience it for the first time. The Homecoming events begin with the annual powder puff football game and Falcons in the Gym for movie night on Monday, October 8. The junior class was victorious in the 2017 powderpuff, so this year’s seniors will definitely be looking to repeat this success. “I’m very excited [to play] and the Seniors will win!”, exclaims senior varsity cheer co-captain Kaylyn Lafitte, who will be participating in the powderpuff game.

The week continues with more exciting events including Homecoming Court dinner, the Homecoming football game versus Huntington on Friday, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 13. Quarterback Luke Bogan expresses confidence in the Falcons, simply stating, “We’ll handle them”, concerning Northwood’s fifty-second Homecoming game at Jerry Burton Stadium. Last season’s Homecoming game versus Woodlawn ended with the Falcons squeezing out the victory by a score of 48-47, where Bogan threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

There will be no school for any Falcons on Friday, October 12! Tickets to the Dance will not be sold to students who have not paid their class fees, so make sure to catch up on owed dues. Be sure to be prepared for Homecoming week and don’t forget to support Northwood at the Homecoming football game!
